catch up

As you might guess from my lack of posts lately, it's been a bit busy around here!  In addition to the whole "two newborns and a toddler" thing we've got going on, we decided that this would be a great time to sell our house.  Soooo, the last couple of weeks, we've spent every moment that isn't dedicated to childcare working on the house to declutter, clean, and fix it up to sell.  I'm happy to report that we finished up all the work yesterday and met with a realtor today, so the process has begun!  But it's been a whirlwind lately, and I just realized that I had lots of random pictures on my phone and camera that I want to save, so I'm just going to put them all in this post, in no particular order.

In baby news - both girls are over 8 pounds now!  Before bathtime tonight, Emily weighed in at 8 lbs, 3 oz, and Caroline was 8 lbs, 1.5 oz.  They are also doing well at nights now that we don't have to wake them up every 3 hours.  Most nights they go to bed for the night after their 11pm feeding and sleep till around 5:30am or so, and then go back to sleep till about 8:30 after I feed them.  They're also having more alert time lately, and we've even gotten a few little non-accidental smiles, which is just the best.  I remember when Will was a newborn, his "witching hour" when he was fussiest was always right during dinnertime.  Caroline and Emily have their fussy time from about 10-11pm every night {and sometimes also from 12:20am until 1am.  yes, 12:20...it's freaky how exact they are with that}.  I know this is a phase that will pass, and I'm just thankful that they're sleeping well after 1am on most nights.

And now, here are the pictures!

We had been thinking that Will was starting to look so much more like Matt until my mom found this picture of me when I was 4.  If you cover the long hair, it's pretty much Will!  Here he is trying to make the same face I'm making in the picture:

Then we both made the face...

 My sweet Dad holding Emily
{no doubt after he had been hard at work fixing up our house...there's no way we could have done this without my parents' help!}

Does anyone remember the "baby in a bucket" picture of Will?  Here's a refresher...

Matt recreated it with Emily last night!

Now some random pics from my phone...

these two keep me entertained!

MWAH!!

tummy time - can you tell how much they love it?

little sister, little sister, big naked brother

melt my heart.
{sorry so blurry, but I LOVE it}

Whenever Matt holds Caroline at night, she stares directly at his face with wide eyes.  Like, the whole time.  She loves playing the uncomfortable game with him.

They just started liking their pacis, which is a welcome relief during fussy times, as I would really need 4 arms to soothe them both at the same time when they get really cranky.
{and let's be honest...6 arms would be best if Will is awake}

It's crazy and a half over here, but oh how we love these sweet babies!

2 months!

Woohoo!  2 months old!
Caroline is pumped.

Emily, not really impressed.

Once again....it was tough to get both babies looking in the general direction of the camera at the same time, but at least they were both awake for the whole photo shoot this month.  Baby steps.  Here are a few pictures of our two month olds.  {who, for the record, are not even as big as Will was at birth yet!}

{Emily is still rockin the sprinkler}

When Will saw us using Mr. Bear for the pictures, he suddenly became VERY interested in him again.

What a cutie!

At two months old, Caroline and Emily are still a lot like newborns.  This makes total sense, considering their due date was just on Saturday {April 28}.  However, just in the last couple of days, they've been having a lot more alert time during the days after their feedings, which has been fun!  We've looked at the mobile, looked at the hanging animals on their playmat, and stared at each other quite a bit.

We're still waking the girls up to eat every three hours around the clock, but when we go to the doctor for their check-up tomorrow, I'm hoping he will give us an idea of when we can start letting them sleep until they wake themselves up at night.  According to our at-home weigh in, they are right around 7 lbs and 3 oz, so we'll see what their official weigh-ins are tomorrow at the doctor's office.

Generally, and considering how itty bitty they are, both girls are pretty good at sleeping in between their feedings at night, although they don't usually seem to consider the 12am-2am hours "nighttime" quite yet.  But we're working on it, and some nights they do great!  I'm just excited that we've reached their due date and they're putting on weight consistently, because I know that means that someday, SOMEDAY, they will sleep more than 2.5 hours at a time.  I'm just crossing my fingers that it will happen during the night when it happens.  :)

As they've become pretty equal in their weights, they are looking a lot more alike.  {Yes, you may be thinking...DUH, they're identical twins. But when C was smaller, they really looked quite different to me.} So although I pretty rarely dress them alike, and Caroline still has a little red spot on her forehead and under her nose, I continue to give the tiniest pedicures ever to Emily, just in case.

Here are a couple of pictures from last week - just because I love the girly outfits and headbands! Maybe God gave me spitter-uppers because he knows how much I enjoy picking out their outfits, and now I get to do it at least three times a day?

{Will is almost always in all or part of his pajamas lately.  His choice.}
