Oh my goodness, how is it possible that my teeny tiny 4 pound baby girls are THREE years old?! (ok...I'm really behind on the blog...they've been 3 since March 2.) Most of the time, it's hard to remember life without them, but in some ways I feel like they were just born. And likewise, sometimes they are such big girls, but usually they are more like my giant babies. ;)
A few fun facts about Emily and Caroline at age 3: They love to dance, especially to Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off". They almost exclusively wear princess dresses when we're at home {night and day}. They are still in their cribs, mostly because we can't decide whether to buy twin beds and let them continue to share a room or move them to their own rooms and get full size beds. Related to that....they fall asleep in each others cribs and/or on top of each other almost every night.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B, in the corner of their room.
Exhibit C...on the couch, after playing for an hour after bedtime.
And sometimes all that late-night partying causes these nap-free ladies to fall asleep on daddy:
These girlies keep us on our toes with their daily dramatics....if they get upset, it's common for them to stop in their tracks and wail, "I CAN'T WALK!!" Or, if one twin scrapes her knee, the other one reacts even more dramatically until she gets a band-aid for HER {fake} injury. So needless to say, sometimes we are quite loud around here, and sometimes Will and I just look at each other in bewilderment. But for all the crazy times, there are millions more moments of delight, glee, laughter, and fun shared with these precious girls. They light up the room with their giggles and laughs, and they crack each other up constantly. They are always role-playing as their favorite princesses - most often Elsa and Anna, but Princesses Sofia and Amber also get a lot of action these days.
I have to mention that although most things about these ladies' development are identical, there is one distinct difference right now. Caroline is totally potty trained, wearing princess panties day and night, and Emily is 0% interested. After several attempts, we decided to stop pressuring her, and we're hoping that eventually she'll decide that diapers are, indeed, totally gross. Here are a few pics of sweet Caroline enjoying her potty prize of a solo ice cream date with Mama. Fun for us both!!
Other favorite things of our 3 year olds include sidewalk chalk, taking walks, swinging, playgrounds, car races around the house with Will, playing in the bathtub with colored water, playing after bedtime, sleeping in, their grandparents, and art activities.
And finally, they are the best of best friends.
The night before their birthday, we took all the kids out to eat at Manny's. The girls finally have enough hair for lower pigtails, and I think it makes them look so grown up!
Another favorite thing: queso!!
Then we had a special visit from Mimi and Duke, complete with frozen bikes!
What a fun birthday surprise!
These lucky girlies had lots of other presents as well - what fun!
We had the whole family over for a pizza and cupcake birthday dinner.
I love all the double birthday cards lined up!
Opening fabulous new clothes and swimwear from Nana!!
Of course, this sweet guy helped celebrate!
The girls loved their new ponies from Aunt Ryan!
Cake time!
These girls were pretty excited to finally get to eat the cupcakes!
