happy easter!

Happy Easter! I hope everyone's weekend was as fun as ours. We enjoyed some family time, some church time, some relaxation, lots of great food, and of course, some picture-taking.

Pre-Easter, Will and I enjoyed the beautiful weather at the arboretum, and Will modeled a fun Easter t-shirt I made for him. I've gotten hooked on making screen-printed shirts using freezer paper {thanks to Kristen and Blair who taught me how to do it!! another show-and-tell post coming soon on this.}

And then came Easter morning! Will thought his Easter basket was marginally cool, but he completely LOVED the little container of applesauce he found in it. {this brings back memories of Christmas, when he latched onto the cheesy puffs container in the midst of a plethora of presents. sweet, sweet boy.}

Here you can see his excitement. After carrying this little gem around all morning while we got ready for church, Will eventually used his fancy new top teeth to bite through the foil and start eating the applesauce vampire-style. Very resourceful.

After church, we took some pictures in the backyard. It was cloudy but sort of sunny too {huh?}, and the lighting turned out strange on these. I attempted to fill in some of the weird shadows on our faces using one of the settings on picasa, but I can't say I was super successful...

This one would have been the best of the three of us for sure, but I am hiding behind Will...shoot! {Matt says I photo-bombed it. Maybe my new favorite expression.}

so I guess this one will do
{gosh, we all look so tan...}

a little walking practice

Will loved hanging out with Mimi and Duke!

After church, we had lunch at Mimi & Duke's house, Will {and Matt and I} had another visit from the Easter bunny, and we got to spend some time with Mema!

Then we headed over to Nana's house, where Will got to play with Nana, Aunt Ryan, Uncle Jonathan, and Uncle Alex. Plus the Easter bunny visited again! Such fun!

playtime with Aunt Ryan

By the end of this busy day, Will was worn out! Enjoying some love from Nana:
Happy Easter to all!!

goodbye mullet! {aka first haircut}

Big day today...Will got his first haircut! I've been thinking about this for a few weeks, but I had sort of been putting it off. I mean, little babies don't get haircuts. Little boys get haircuts. And I just wasn't too sure about adding one more thing to the list of reasons that Will is more of a little boy than a baby these days. *sigh* But with Easter coming up, and probably some good photo ops with the fam, we decided that today was the day. So we visited Ms. Tynesha at Snip Its this morning. It was a good experience - no tears {from either of us, whew!} and Will now looks quite distinguished with his new do. Here are the pics:

a little unsure...

sitting in the big boy chair!

all done!

I took a few more "after" pics when we got home:

goodbye mullet! no more party in the back for this guy.

can you handle the cuteness?

I am so excited.

ADORABLE new photos of babies in Night Owl hats and cocoons are here!!! OH my goodness. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so excited about the adorable-ness of all of these. So this post is just dedicated to looking at precious babies. If you didn't already have baby fever, you might now. ENJOY!

A gigantonormous {new word...think it will catch on?} thanks to Allie at A Walk in the Park Photography and Jill at JC-Originals Photography for sharing their talents and photos with me! If you're looking for a photographer, I recommend both of these ladies highly!

14 months and.....WALKING!

Happy 14 months, Will!

Our sweet little Will turned 14 months old today, and we have had a month of milestones! From teeth to talking to WALKING, it has been a fun month. Here are his bear pics for this month:

{oops, no bear! but cute...}

We have been sick around here, so we had to take a little break during the photos.
{We have both been sick, but honestly, Will has not seemed bothered by it much. He coughs and sneezes right on through his sleep at night, and keeps going all day. Sweet boy.}

Here are a few fun facts about Will at 14 months:
  • Will is so fun. I mean it. We have FUN. He cracks me up every day, and I just love watching him learn things. He is sooo curious, and he wants to know everything about everything. He will sit for a long time {in baby time} and point at pictures in his books while I tell him the words.
He's curious during photo time too...
  • He is finally getting his top teeth!! Look at those chompers coming in! And I think I see a third bottom tooth that is just about to pop through. Go Will!
  • Eating and sleeping are still great. Will's favorite thing to eat is probably fruit of any kind. I haven't found anything he won't eat, but he definitely prefers some things over others. He has done great with drinking whole milk, and really seems to love it. But not as much as he loves juice. We've tried a few different kinds {half juice, half water} and he loves them all. It's so fun to watch him experience new things!
  • He has lots of new words this month. Mostly he has added to his list of words that he can point out when I say them, but he has also started saying a few new things. He now says the Will version of wagon {GA-gon}, fish {iiish}, uh-oh {he's been saying that for awhile but I don't think I mentioned it last month}, and the Will version of "car" totally cracks me up. He says "DUH duh" for car, but he says it every time! It's funny because he says "ca" very clearly for cat, but doesn't use that same sound for car at all. :) He has also developed a long list of animal noises. These are awesome. He can do a monkey, lion, elephant {complete with arm motion}, cow, horse, sheep, and today he started copying my owl noise pretty well. He also always pants when I ask him what the dog says. Not sure on that one - I have always said "woof woof" but I guess dogs do pant too...
Here's a video of the lion noise, which is tied with the elephant for my favorite.
{I really need to get a video of the elephant.}
  • Will just realized how fun it is to flip switches, hit buttons, etc - especially if the effect can be seen immediately. He is now in charge of turning on lights and opening and closing the garage door anytime we go somewhere. He also has a toy that lights up and plays a song when he hits a button on it {ok, he has lots of toys that do that, but he has latched on to one particular one} and he loves to hit the button and start dancing when the song plays {but he only dances for the first part of the song} and then he waits with his little hand hovering over the button until the song ends and he can hit it and start dancing again. {love}
  • Finally, and most importantly, WILL IS WALKING! He took his first steps back in February, and I know he has had the ability to walk for awhile now, but it just finally clicked today. He mastered the skill of standing up without holding anything for support last Thursday and has been getting much braver ever since. Then today, he just stood up and started walking around! Yay Will!
Here's a video we got this evening.
{Yes, Matt is bribing him with cheese. It was bedtime and he needed some motivation.}

Happy 14 months, Will!
