mwah yem!

I love Will.  He is just the sweetest big brother ever!  I really had no idea how he would react to having two new baby sisters, but he has done SO well, and just wants to be helpful and love on them as much as possible.  His favorite thing to do lately is "Mwah yem!!"  This is how he asks to kiss them. {get it?  he says "mwah" for kiss, I guess because I would always make that noise when I gave him kisses, and "yem" is just his little man way of saying "them" right now.}  And his kisses usually consist of him laying his little head on them and saying "Mwah!!"  Melt my heart!

While the girls are so tiny and sleeping so much, Will and I have been getting out at least once every couple of days to do something fun together.  Our outings are always short since I only ever have a couple of hours between feedings, but since the weather is so nice, we've been able to enjoy the outdoors a lot.  We've gone to the playground, on walks, and to the arboretum.  Here are a few pictures from our arboretum picnic date this week.

Thursday night after his bath, Will loaded himself up in his car {wearing only his diaper} and started driving down the hall towards the front door.  When I asked him where he was going, he said, "to the arboretum to eat peanut butter sandwiches!"  I think he enjoyed our picnic as much as I did!

The girls are still doing wonderfully, and have been growing daily!  {Last night they weighed in at 6 lbs 10 oz (Caroline) and 6 lbs 9.5 oz (Emily).}  They have outgrown all the Carters brand of preemie clothes, which are the smallest, and have moved up to the newborn size in everything except a few brands that make really big preemie stuff.  This means we suddenly have a LOT more options when I dress them in the mornings.  This is super fun, and I've been having a blast picking out girly outfits for them.

They're not much into posing for pictures yet.  Here's Emily attempting to nurse on Caroline's arm while I'm trying to take a picture of them in their pretty pink outfits.  :)

Sweet Emily passed out after her breakfast

Love these boys!

Pretty in purple {admittedly not their best photo...but they were hungry and flailing around a lot!}

This one makes me laugh.  I feel like Caroline {left} is sort of a hand-eating, eye-gouging hot mess, and Emily {right} is embarrassed by the whole situation.

 And my favorite one...Emily practicing her sprinkler dance!

life lately

Here are a few pictures of life lately at the Hawkins house.  Although life with two newborns COULD be a bit monotonous {3 hour cycles of changing diapers and feeding two babies around the clock}, when you add in a feisty and hilarious 2 year old, it's certainly always interesting!

Will holding Emily for the first time
{he was very skeptical, but this was the first time he didn't immediately yell NO when asked if he wanted to hold a baby, so we took advantage and let him try}

Mimi working on the double baby hold

Bedtime fun
{well, bedtime for the only one of us who still gets to have a real "bedtime," anyway}

One of these things is not like the others...

 cutie patooties
{and they're growing!  both weighed in at 6 lbs, 5 oz last night!}

sweet big brother!

 smiley girl {Caroline}

so peaceful... {Caroline}

Aaaaand, 2 seconds later when unwrapped....less peaceful!
{but we LOVE the stretching that they do when they get unwrapped from the swaddle!}

 we've had some mommy time...

And some daddy time!

{multitasking at its finest....double rocking babies while watching the Rangers!}

We got our double stroller and took the whole family on a walk!
{we seem to attract a lot of attention when we are all out together...}

And we've had a few naps here and there too.  All these babies can make one pretty sleepy!!

happiest easter!

Happy Easter!  We had such a fun day celebrating Easter with our families.  The girls got to visit both Mimi & Duke's house and Nana's house for the first time ever, and Will had a blast playing with everyone, as always.  Will especially enjoyed his Easter baskets, starting with one from the Easter bunny that he found early this morning.  The Easter bunny knew that Will is loving puzzles right now, so his basket had lots of new puzzles, a new book, some of his favorite delicious applesauce, and cheddar and graham bunnies hidden in Easter eggs.  He quickly learned how to open the eggs to get to the treats, and we may be finding bunnies scattered around the house for weeks!

goodies from the Easter bunny!
{Do you love Will's pajama combo?  He chose his attire last night, and of course it included his favorite "geen pants," which are size 12-18 months, and clearly too small.  Love this guy!}

Will has been SUCH a great big brother to the girls.  Any time he sees one, he says, "hey baby!" and he likes to pat their heads and hold their hands.  And he is always trying to help by bringing them blankets, clothes, and anything he thinks they need.  What a sweet boy!  This morning, he even helped me give Caroline a bath.

Here are a few Easter pictures we took this morning:

{I think Will was a bit skeptical of our sweet neighbor who offered to take our picture!}

Last week I showed Will how to make those little spinning leaf things spin. {you know...the leaf/seed things that spin when you drop them?}  He is so cute when he sees one now...always picks it up and drops it to make it spin!  {He even does it with regular leaves now...not always as exciting, but still cute.}

Our first stop of the afternoon was Mimi and Duke's house for lunch.  Will got an Easter basket there, and he was super excited about more snacks!

...and a red car!

Duke & Emily {love this picture!!}

Later in the afternoon, our little circus headed over to Nana's house for dinner.  {have I mentioned that getting three kids anywhere is a bit of a production?}  There were more Easter baskets and treats, plus Will got to dye some Easter eggs!  I was feeding the girls during the egg dying, so I didn't get any pictures, but I hear that it was a blast.

I love how well Will's grandparents know him....he got new sunglasses in BOTH Easter baskets.
He was in heaven!  :)

Happy Easter!

celebrating c&e

What a fun weekend we had!  After months of being afraid to get too excited about the girls' arrival {or buy anything!} because of the momo pregnancy, now that they are finally here and home, we finally got to celebrate!  My Aunt Christa and Uncle Steve came to town to meet them, plus I got together with some great friends to shower the girls with love {and girly stuff!}.  It was a blast.

The girls loved meeting Aunt Christa and Uncle Steve!

This one is just a random pic of Emily, but I just love how sweet she looks!  Had to share.

And here are a few pics from the shower...Megan made these awesome signs for their room.
{totally made me cry when I walked in...I am a mess!}

everything was so cute and girly!

The girls were given so much adorable stuff, including this sign for their room,
which is one of my favorites {and also made me cry}!
It says, "Even a miracle takes a little time.  --Cinderella"
{Thanks Pam!!!}

the beautiful hostesses - LOVE these girls!

I also love snuggle time with all my babies!
Not sure what I did to deserve these three blessings...love them so much!
