happy birthday, mimi!

Happy birthday, Mimi!!  We had a great time celebrating Mimi's birthday this year.  Matt was out of town, so Mimi and Duke came over, and we ordered food and hung out at our house.  I'm not sure why Will is mostly naked in these pictures, but when 2 out of 3 kids are dressed in real clothes, I usually call it a win and get on with the day.  ;)

We are so thankful for Mimi!!  She is the most selfless, generous, caring, smart, funny, and amazing mother and grandmother, and I'm not sure what we would do without her!  Happy birthday, Mimi!!

fall at the arboretum

We only braved the pumpkin-fest at the arboretum once this fall, because honestly...we were sort of a mess!  The arboretum was great - fabulous pumpkin display as always.  But we decided to walk around a bit after taking pictures in the pumpkins, and I guess we pushed it too long, because we ended up leaving with 2 screaming ladies, 1 over-it little boy, 2 bewildered {yet very helpful, as always} grandparents, and 1 absolutely exhausted mama.  ;)  But we got a few cute pictures before all the wheels came off.

we found twin pumpkins!

throwing hay was definitely the highlight for this guy.

hootie whooooo!

I made these girls some owl shirts, so of course we had to have a little photo shoot to model them!

I love these smiles!!

pumpkins!

Oh, blog.  How I forget about you.  I'm 100% certain that I would never ever make time to post anything if I didn't print this as our scrapbook, so thank goodness that keeps me on track every few months!  I know I will be so glad to have all these memories and pictures saved when I am old and senile.  So, it's time for me to catch up on the past 2 months!

We are surprised every year by how early the arboretum has to start putting out the pumpkins to get ready for October.  Once again this year, we made an early-September trip out to enjoy the nice weather, and surprise!  Pumpkins!!  We couldn't get into the pumpkin village yet, but we took a few fun pictures with all the other pumpkins.

Being silly before we left:

I don't remember why Will had to change shirts...

This cutie was all about posing for pictures {her sister?  not so much.}

first day of pre-k

After a fun summer of absolutely nothing on our schedules, it's back to school time for Will!  This is his last year before kindergarten {sniff sniff}, so he's going 3 days a week.  He will go from 8:45-11:45 on Mondays and Fridays, and from 8:45-2 on Wednesdays.  Since we moved to north Dallas, we decided to leave Park Cities Baptist Church and start school at First Methodist Richardson.  We will really miss PCBC, but our new 10 minute drive definitely beats 30 minutes, especially with my two little sidekicks who ride along for drop-off and pick-up.  Will's teachers this year are Mrs. Linn and Mrs. Ross, and he loved his first day with them today!  He never volunteers a ton of school stories, but after my interrogation this afternoon, I gathered that he had a fun day, liked his new friends and teachers, rode trikes on the playground, read a new book, ate cupcakes for snack, and didn't learn anything new just yet.  Sweet boy!  We look forward to a fun year, and we will enjoy every last minute of preschool's later start time and not having school every single day!

I promise there were other kids there...I mean, you KNOW we weren't early!  ;)

Happy first day of school, sweet Will!!
