breckenridge vacation

You know what's fun?  Vacation!  Especially if it's the first time you've been away for more than a night in years!  Matt and I just took a trip to Breckenridge for 4 whole days, and it was a blast!  We enjoyed the cool weather, cute little town, leisurely meals, naps, and Matt even went fishing while I shopped and sat in coffee shops and read my book!  Ahhhhh....  Is it time to go back?

Picking up our rent car in Denver...even the hours of train/bus/plane/car traveling seemed relaxing since we were only in charge of ourselves.  ;)

Even the drive was beautiful!

Lunch when we arrived - Breckenridge Brewery
{Side note...did you know that when you're not used to the altitude, it almost competely takes away your appetite??  We were such weenies and could barely eat more than one meal a day!}

After walking around all afternoon, we came back for a nap.  {nap!!!}  And when we woke up, this was the view from our balcony:

The first two days were pretty rainy, so we didn't take that many pictures.  Plus...how many selfies do you really need?  But we woke up to a beautiful day on Saturday, so we hiked up a mountain!  We loved the challenging 7 mile hike {even when we got caught in a random hailstorm!}, and the lake at the end of the trail was beautiful.

Starting our hike!

There was a beautiful waterfall about 3/4 of the way up:

And we even found a nice couple to take our picture at the lake!

And don't worry....our kids were having a vacation of their own!  They got to spend some time at Mimi and Dukes, and Will even had a special date with Nana one night.  They had a blast!!  And I loved getting picture-updates while we were gone.

Breakfast at Mimi and Duke's house

Playground fun at Moss Haven

Arboretum!

Special Slurpee treats!

Who knew how fun old wrapping paper could be?

Building with magnatiles

And they even came over to our house to play with their dress-up clothes, bounce in the bounce house, and of course...to dance!  :)

Oh vacation....we miss you already!
